Striped Closet Makeover

Jewel Marlowe, from Jeweled Interiors, was inspired to breathe new life into a basic closet with colorful paint and bold stripes. Nubby baskets and vintage art help add sophistication to the youthful color scheme.

Pink, yellow, and green striped closet. There is a small vanity with a yellow lamp, succulent, and frame, with a few clothes hanging in the closet.

Supplies Needed

  • Beige wall with long brown shelf hung near the top. There is a step ladder and the floor is covered by a drop cloth

    Getting Started

To get started, Jewel recommends to use the lightest paint color as your base and paint the entire area.

Then, use a level and a pencil to trace out straight lines. Label each stripe to make the paint pattern easy to remember, except the base stripe. Tip: use your level as the width of your stripes!

  • Four Vertical strips of Yellow FrogTape Delicate Surface Painter's Tape spaced out on a wall

    Tape Off

Use FrogTape® Delicate Surface Painter's Tape to block out and protect the base color strips, since you won't be painting those. Also, tape off the first stripe that you want to paint.

  • Yellow FrogTape Delicate Surface Painter's Tape lined vertically on a wall. The wall is painted with dark green and pink paint

    Paint and Repeat

Paint the first stripe and let the paint dry to the touch.

Using FrogTape® Delicate Surface, tape around the second stripe, paint and repeat!

  • Green, Pink, and Yellow Striped wall with a Frame with a flower print and clothes hanging

    Wrapping Up

Finally, remove all the tape, style and enjoy!
