Linen Closet Glow-Up with a Pop of Bold Style

Jeff and Megan Hamann, from @homewiththehamanns, elevate their builder-grade linen closet by adding colorful vertical stripes.

Supplies Needed:

  • Woman using a paint roller to paint the inside of a closet white
    1

    Paint the Walls

Use whatever base color you wish for all the walls. Jeff and Megan used Extra White by Sherwin-Williams®.

  • A man using a laser level to apply vertical strips of FrogTape Advanced straight.
    2

    Decide the Stripe Width

First, map out the stripe width. Jeff and Megan decided to have stripes the same width as the FrogTape Advanced™ Painter's Tape, which is approximately 2 in.

    Tape it Off

For the precise lines, use a laser level to guide the painter's tape from the top to the bottom of the wall. Jeff and Megan started their lines in the middle of the wall and worked outward. To make sure the tape adheres to the textured wall, use an old credit card to apply pressure as you run down the tape for a tight seal.

    Time to Paint

For best results, Jeff and Megan recommend painting the edges of the tape the same color as your base color.

    Adding Color

Finally, paint the color of your stripes! Jeff and Megan went with two coats of Mulberry Silk by Sherwin-Williams® for this project.

    Peel Off the Tape

Pull the tape off slowly while the second coat of paint is still wet. This is key for the sharpest paint lines.
