All work and no play is no way to live! Whether it’s having an after-work cocktail with friends, completing a virtual workout, playing with your pet or running through the sprinkler, it’s important to designate a place of play that allows for these happy activities at home.

Make a plan. Every project needs to start with a solid plan. Ours was based around COLOR, so the first thing we did was decide on our perfect color palette. We wanted it to be fun, bright, and tropical. We chose Sherwin Williams Lei Flower, Ravishing Coral, Jovial, Afterglow and Vegan for our color palette.
Make some artwork. Grab a large tarp and frame it out using 2x3 wood. Add a row of FrogTape to the edges of the tarp to give your art a crisp border. We left the border natural to give it the look and feel of being on a mat. Paint the center white, then paint some abstract shapes, and finally some leaves. Once the paint dries, pull off the FrogTape to reveal your perfectly crisp lines!
Paint a door. Start by wiping down the door to remove any dust or dirt. Then add FrogTape to the window glass if applicable. Use a paint brush to cut into the edges and a roller to paint the rest of the door. Apply 2-3 coats of paint. Once dry, remove your FrogTape.
Make a table. You could buy a table too, but being DIYers at heart, we knew we had to make our own. Every outdoor hangout space needs a spot to sit back and enjoy some amazing food!
Make a planter. We built ours by making a box using a 1x6 and 1x3. Paint your first color, let it dry, then tape over it with some delicate surface FrogTape. The delicate surface tape is perfect for fresh paint. You can tape over it without fear that it's going to peel right off again!
Make and paint the bar cart. What outdoor dining area is complete without a bar cart?! But not just any bar cart... we needed to make our bar cart as fun and vibrant as the entertaining it's bound to do. We built the bar cart primarily out of 1x3s and wood dowels. The main cart is painted in SW Lei Flower while the dowels are painted Jovial for a little contrast. Once it's painted, attach some wheels, a bottle opener, and insert the ice bucket for maximum functionality.
Add decor to bring it all together. We added a colorful rug, some pillows, and some string lights to complete the space. Now it's ready for plenty of cookouts and margarita nights!
FrogTape® is the only painter's tape treated with PaintBlock Technology. PaintBlock is a super-absorbent polymer which reacts with latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, preventing paint bleed.
