Tutorial

DIY Slat Wall

  • I started by marking off my desired space – lining the ceiling, baseboards, and walls with FrogTape. Be sure to use a level for this step to make sure your lines are straight.
  • I painted the area of the wall entirely first before adding any slats. This will definitely help to cut down on time.
  • I used 8ft 1x2 Pine and cute down to size. Each one went up smoothly, putting a spare piece in between each one as I went along to ensure the spacing is the same – securing with a brad nail gun.
  • Once all are up, I used FrogTape to line the outer edges before painting all the slats.

Tips & Tricks

  • When wanting straight lines, use your paint brush FIRST (before a roller) and paint away from the FrogTape. Don’t paint into the tape. This will ensure extra smooth, straight lines.
  • Be sure your paint is fully dry before peeling back your tape!
  • FrogTape adheres so well, while also removing easily – so don’t be afraid to run your hand over it firmly.
  • Did you know you can use FrogTape to hang a picture? Line up where your holes need to go, marking the hanging brackets on the tape. Tape your marked tape to the wall where you want to hang your picture. Nail in the holes, peel the tape back and you have perfectly spaced nails!

FrogTape® Brand
Painter's Tape

FrogTape® is the only painter's tape treated with PaintBlock Technology. PaintBlock is a super-absorbent polymer which reacts with latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape, preventing paint bleed.
