Tutorial

Stripes make everything fun.

I wanted my entryway to be like the inside of a really nice shopping bag. A welcome and inviting space that match my colorful décor and style.

Tutorial

  • I started with measuring my wall and determined how many stripes I wanted of each color. I wanted an odd number of grey stripes and larger white stripes. I did a draft on a piece of paper to ensure I liked the width.
  • I painted my base coat Sherwin Williams Rock candy and then let it dry according to instructions. Using a ruler, I measured out my stripes and made marks at the top and bottom of wall. Then I used a laser level to connect the marks. This was my guide to apply the I the Frog Tape Delicate Surfaces.
  • Then I also used the Frog Tape to create visual marks on the wall for the areas I was not painting. The Rock Candy base coat would be a stripe and didn’t need painting again. This was helpful to have a visual reminder to skip this area.
  • Following the recommendations, I used a damp sponge and burnished the edge of my tape lines to ensure I didn’t have any bleeding from the Sherwin Williams Dovetail. I removed the painters tape while the paint was still drying.

Fun Entryway Door

  • I also updated the boring front door to match the beautiful stripes. I achieved this by using Sherwin Williams Eros.
  • I started by taping the freshly painted walls with Frog Tape delicate surfaces. Then I applied the high gloss finish in layers ensuring all layers dried before reapplying.
  • During the final application I removed the painters tape before allowing it to dry.

It’s that simple to transform a boring door into art.
