How to Paint Horizontal Stripes
Materials Needed:
• FrogTape® brand painter’s tape
• Level
• Paint – at least two different colors or sheens
• Roller and paintbrush
• Paint trays – one for each color or sheen of paint
• Drop cloths
• Ladder or step stool – depending on desired height of stripes
Step 1
Paint walls with your desired background color (to choose the right tape for your project, view our tape selector chart).
Step 2
Using FrogTape brand painter’s tape and a level, tape off horizontal stripes that are the same width and height for the entire length of the wall. Hint: Please keep in mind you need to account for the width of the tape to ensure that all your stripes are the desired height including the base color stripes. In this example, the stripes that will be the base color appear narrower than the secondary color stripes to accommodate for the tape width.
Step 3
Paint every other stripe with your secondary color so you create a striped pattern – base coat stripe, secondary color stripe, base coat stripe, secondary color stripe. Carefully Remove FrogTape as soon as you are done painting.
Step 4
Hang your accessories and enjoy.
